What the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Does For You and What You Can Do For the Watershed”. The speaker is Peggy Kvam, Board Manager, Nine Mile Creek Watershed District. Nine Mile Creek is an important watershed area of Hennepin County - the SW area of Richfield is in it.
Peggy says she: "will discuss who is responsible for the water quality of Minnesota’s streams, lakes and wetlands. We will look at who are the federal, state and local agencies that regulate, fund and manage our precious fresh water resources. We will explore some water quality improvement projects implemented in our community by the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District. Plans and photographs will help you understand how they function, and the benefits they bring. The presentation will wrap up with a discussion of actions that you can take personally to be a good steward of Minnesota’s waters.

Peggy Kvam is a long-time member of LWV Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, Hopkins, and has served on the LWV MN Board, is a past President of LWV MEPH, and enjoys moderating LWV Candidate Forums. She was appointed by the Hennepin County Board to the Board of Managers of the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District in 2020. She is certified as a Minnesota Water Steward. Previously, she has served on the Minnetonka Park Board and the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Citizen Advisory Committee.
