Graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1972, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Plant and Soil Science.


CAREER: 
Full-time with Bachman’s since 1972, serving in various positions.  Became President in 1992, and Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer in 2008.

Bachman’s, founded in 1885, currently operates 34 retail stores in the Twin Cities and St. Cloud, including six Floral, Home, and Garden Centers, as well as twenty-eight retail Floral Stores.  Bachman’s also operates indoor and outdoor landscaping divisions, a nursery wholesale and hardscapes division, ten acres of greenhouses, and a 670-acre growing range near Lakeville, Minnesota, which produces many of the plants, flowers, and landscaping products sold at Bachman’s locations. 


ACTIVITIES:    
Serves on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota State Fair Foundation.

Trustee of the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Foundation. 

Inducted into the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association Hall of Fame in 2014.

Inducted into the Minnesota Business Hall of Fame in 2005.

Past President of the American Nursery and Landscape Association.

Trustee-Emeritus of the University of Minnesota Foundation.

Past President – Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association.

Honorary Member – Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Board of Trustees.

Served on the Board of Directors of the Guthrie Theater.

Served on the University of Minnesota Alumni Association National Board.


FAMILY:    
Resides in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, with wife, Ruth.  Son, Bryan resides in Rochester, Minnesota; daughter, Anna, resides in Bloomington, Minnesota.  Dale and Ruth enjoy spending time with their four grandchildren.
