The Richfield Bloomington Credit Union (RBCU) is hosting Member Appreciation Day. RBCU is a member-owned and operated cooperative with deep roots in the communities of Richfield and Bloomington. Over a thousand members are expected to gather and reconnect as credit union employees serve up catered food including: brats, hot dogs, a grilled veggie option, potato chips, pasta salad, baked beans, cookies, mini-donuts, popcorn, and plenty of water and soda.
In addition to the food, there will be face-and hair-painting, air brush tattoos, balloon creations, and live music to entertain the youngest members of the RBCU family. The kid-friendly Teddy Bear Band will have the stage from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm.
RBCU was created by a generation of can-do, Richfield teachers 57 years ago. A few original founding members will be attending. Since opening, membership has grown from 50 to 22,000. The event is part member appreciation, part carnival, and part family reunion. It’s new and old Americans having a picnic in the park to celebrate their credit union and their community.
